British film certainly feels healthier than ever at the moment, what with the country's latest and greatest output frequently winding up in Oscar contention and even on occasion scoring tremendous worldwide box office grosses. With so many Hollywood productions opting to shoot partially or even entirely in the UK right now, a sprinkling of Britishness is certainly desirable, but what about those truly British movies, either funded by a British studio, dominated by a British cast and crew, or created as a co-production with other countries? Whether these movies are about being British in today's world, are adapted from British source material or have some sort of UK-based DNA, each movie represents the very best of what the country has had to offer so far this decade.
