The James Bond series is one of the most prolific, iconic and financially successful movie franchises ever made, kicking off in 1962 with the Sean Connery-starring Dr. No and instantly becoming a firm mainstay of the cinematic calendar, with Bond 24 set to start shooting next month. With its suave protagonist, sexy femme fatales, exotic locales, imposing villains, exciting action, witty sense of humour and fun gadgets, the Bond films are all about entertainment above all else, and though the formula is pretty well-worn by now, the recent Daniel Craig reboot series has at least found a few ways to reinvigorate the template for a new generation.
