15 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The James Bond Franchise

15. Pierce Brosnan Was A Great Bond Stuck In (Mostly) Bad Movies

You have to feel for Pierce Brosnan. The guy fought tooth and nail to secure the role of Bond after his show Remington Steele was cancelled in 1987, but once the role was offered to him, the publicity allowed Steele's producers to resurrect the show and enforce a contractual stipulation, forcing Brosnan to turn down Bond for a time, leading to Timothy Dalton's run as the character. Brosnan did get his shot almost a decade later, though, and while his four-film tenure began well with the excellent Goldeneye, all three of his subsequent films, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day, are regarded as some of the worst Bond films ever made (the latter in particular). Even so, Brosnan still gets a fair level of respect for his work on the series, largely because it's agreed that he's perfect for the part and does a fine job with the material he has, but that he was essentially wasted on a largely poor series of films that didn't adequately service his potential in the role.
