20 Best Performances In The Wizarding World Franchise

Ten movies - countless great performances.

There is a strong argument to be made that the Wizarding World films are the best-cast film franchise ever. The overwhelming majority of the actors in these movies fit the parts astonishingly well and, for the most part, did absolutely brilliant work in their roles too.

In the Harry Potter films, the cast was basically a who's who of great British and Irish actors and most of the cast was superb. Similarly, the two Fantastic Beasts films (so far) have been very well-performed in spite of their problems.

There aren't many bad performances in these movies - it's mainly a few of the younger actors and Helena Bonham Carter's awful, stupendously over-the-top turn as Bellatrix Lestrange. In contrast, when it comes to great performances, you're really spoiled for choice.

So, who are the very best performers in the franchise? Which actors have somehow managed to stand out in this crowded field of stunning performances? And who's the greatest Wizarding World actor of all? Time to find out.

One more thing: don't expect to see Daniel Radcliffe or many of the young actors on here. Nostalgia be damned, the adult cast were always the real stars...

20. Ian Hart - Quirinus Quirrell

It's easy to forget that Ian Hart was even in Harry Potter, as this was ultimately a one-film appearance, and therefore it's also easy to forget just how good he was as the first film's villain.

Ian Hart brought out Quirinius Quirrell's goofy, bumbling nature very well throughout the movie and made him a hapless comic relief, before suddenly flicking the switch in the final act.

Once Quirrell's true nature was uncovered, Hart delivered an icy, genuinely malevolent performance which also had a gentle undercurrent of cowardice to it, making Quirrell a brilliantly repulsive antagonist.

The climax to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone hasn't aged too well, but Hart's excellent villainous turn is still a major highlight and it's a shame he couldn't have come back for more.
