20 Best Performances In The Wizarding World Franchise

19. Eddie Redmayne - Newt Scamander

Harry Potter Voldemort
Warner Bros

Newt Scamander is not only an engaging hero for the Fantastic Beasts films, but he's also a very interesting one as Hollywood leading men go. He's quiet, soft-spoken, socially awkward and gentle, so he makes for a very nice change of pace from the macho, tougher male leads we're all used to.

Eddie Redmayne was exactly the right actor for him and unsurprisingly, he's done a great job. He's absolutely disappeared into the character and really made Newt his own. He was under-used in the second film, since he became almost irrelevant to the story when he's meant to be the protagonist, but Eddie Redmayne was still a loveable presence throughout.

The Fantastic Beasts films don't really have anything on the Harry Potter ones (although the first one is pretty good and doesn't always get enough credit), but they are being led by a better performance than the Harry Potter ones were.
