10 Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed

These films are COOKED before they've even come out.

Moviegoers have become incredibly adept at sniffing out a dud movie in the making, and while they're not always right, far too often have film fans seen a critical and/or commercial flop coming a mile off.

While no film's fate is truly decided until it's sent out into the world and audiences make up their own minds, sometimes the tidal wave of pre-release negativity is just too strong to be ignored.

And that's absolutely the case with these 10 upcoming films, where the writing already seems to be on the wall - bar a miracle, these movies are all doomed one way or another.

Perhaps they lack the inspiring creative to get audiences excited, behind-the-scenes troubles paint a concerning picture, or there simply isn't interest in the movie's existence from general viewers.

Whatever the reason, these films all seem positively cooked months, even years, before they actually hit screens.

Now, we all love to be surprised by an unexpectedly successful film, and that could certainly happen to some of these movies, but let's be honest - the smart money is on each of these movies underperforming both critically and commercially...

10. The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum

Back in May, it was announced that the next live-action Lord of the Rings film would be The Hunt for Gollum, a prequel revolving around the title character, with Peter Jackson set to produce while Andy Serkis will both star and direct.

But the response from many fans was one of patent disinterest - as brilliant a character as Gollum is, were many angling for a prequel origin story?

The original Rings trilogy did a fantastic job of giving us everything we needed to know about him, and so it's tough to view this new film as anything more than a craven cash-grab.

With an expedited release date set for 2026 despite the script still being in the early stages, this certainly feels like a rushed production, especially given its effects-heavy nature.

Between all this and the fanbase's sharply divided response to the ongoing Amazon Prime TV series, live-action Lord of the Rings isn't in a great spot right now, and so all but the series' most dedicated fans may ultimately decide to just sit this one out.
