Is it safe to come out yet? It's been a while since Fantastic Four landed in cinemas with a wet slap and clobbered all of our hopes and dreams for the franchise but is it safe to mention Marvels first family in a cinematic context again yet or are we still in the midst of the fallout? It could have been so beautiful: an FF film from the mind who brought us the twisted superpower parable Chronicle and the producer behind the X-Mens latest successes. It already sounded amazing but Fox managed to bring together a cast of bona fide rising stars, with loads of seriously impressive projects between them, to wash away the saccharine taste of the campy two-film series that started in 2005. Alas the final product was decidedly less than Fantastic, and so devoid of any excitement, feeling or character work that even the visually impaired Moloids would see through the plot holes and into the production woes behind the scenes. Its a shame. Were living in a golden age of superhero movies, the likes of which weve literally never seen before, and one of the most important elements of the Marvel Universe is still yet to star in a worthy film. This needs to be changed Theres a chance that Fox will try and forge ahead with a sequel to their latest Fantastic Four, but they could just as easily start afresh again after a few more years have passed. Either way, heres what they need to do to rehabilitate the FF.
