9 "Upcoming" Movie Remakes Trapped In Development Hell
Don't just look at it, MAKE it!
Just as everything will die and most things you love will come to disappoint you in some way, it's a painful inevitability that pretty much every movie you've ever enjoyed will end up being remade. As Hollywood's irresistible regurgitation engine spits out its latest attempt to find the best way to guarantee an audience, it's more than likely that they'll start to consider even the most untouchable sounding properties.
Yes, Back To The Future will be remade. There's literally nothing any of us can do about it.
Luckily for anyone worried about such things, Hollywood has a habit of completely dropping the ball on some of their remakes and simply letting them lapse into the dreaded Development Hell stage where it's unclear what's happenng and nobody knows what's confirmed and what's not. And casting an eye over that particular twilight zone reveals a fair number of could-be-great projects that are currently frozen in time...
9. Blade
If Wesley Snipes had his way, we would have seen his fourth outing as Marvel's most famous Day Walker a long time ago. He's basically been campaigning for an opportunity to put Blade: Trinity behind him since before the vampire's rights returned to Marvel Studios and it became a real possibility that we'd see more of him.
Kevin Feige has cryptically said in the past that a Blade remake will PROBABLY happen and Snipes himself has said that there have been "conversations" about more than one Blade project. So far though, nothing's come of it.
The problem for Blade fans - and Snipes - is that Blade (and indeed vampires in general) - don't really fit the image of the MCU. The supernatural elements in the franchise are fairly limited and there's been no precedent yet to establish that vampires even exist, so simply plucking them out of the air wouldn't work.
It could be that we'll see an alternate universe movie annexed from the MCU, but even then Marvel Studios might struggle to market it alongside their more... clean-cut material. Which would be a problem since Blade works best as an R-Rated movie, so maybe don't get your hopes up.
