Assassin's Creed 3: 10 Improvements That Make It The Best In The Series

By Stuart W. Bedford /

As you might already know, Assassin's Creed 3, upon its release a few weeks ago, split its audience roughly down the middle. Some think it's clearly the best entry into the franchise so far while others insist that, while it may be an entertaining title in itself, it offers little to no real improvement on its predecessors. I fall neatly into the former category. After spending the last few weeks killing, free-running, hunting, chasing and even sailing through the fictional retelling of the American Revolutionary War with glee, I can safely say that for me, AC III instantly pips the original Assassin's Creed 2 as finest of the bunch. I can certainly see both perspectives. After all, Ubisoft promised a gameplay revolution which, even as a fan, I'm not so sure that they delivered and coupled with a somewhat disappointing ending, it appears that statement may have been a little bit premature. However, vaguely disappointing endings aside, there's still a lot to love about Assassin's Creed 3. A hell of a lot if you're asking this writer (which, seeing as you're here, I'm going to assume that you are). So, let's take a look at the improvements Ubisoft made to their tried and tested franchise, and how for me, they actually equate to the the best Assassin's Creed title yet.
