Disney

It isn't long before Disney studios will once again be inviting us to "be their guest" as we once again open the book on one of cinema's most enchanting animations.

Beauty And The Beast joins the Jungle Book's recent turn from animation to real life, while paving the way for The Little Mermaid, Mulan, and The Lion King to be turned from Disney classics into live action. Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont's French fairytale will be given the 21st Century treatment, and Disney's 1991 animation will be given the remake treatment.

Whereas Jon Favreau's Jungle Book went slightly off the beaten track with its story, few could have realised just how close Beauty And The Beast would be a shot-for-shot remake of Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise's 1991 animation. This time starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Ewan McGregor, and Ian McKellen, the live action version is sure to hark back to the '90s kid inside us all.

Faithful adaptation or expensive rip off? Here are 12 scenes from the Beauty and the Beast trailer directly from the 1991 animated version.

Ah, sweet nostalgia - bon appetit!

12. The Castle

Set deep in the heart of provincial French forests, the castle from Beauty and the Beast is one of the most famous alongside Sleeping Beauty's. It looks like even 16 years later we will still be visiting the tale of a spoiled young prince who is cursed to wander his castle for eternity as a hideous beast.

Disney has moved with the times though, and the opening shot of Beast's castle has been swapped out for an updated twist on the classic Disney titles. Not a flying Tinker Bell in sight.
