Mad Mel is back.
Though Mel Gibson may not be the colossal box office draw he used to be, he's still chipping away at his craft, and has turned in one of his strongest recent acting vehicles with this savage little thriller.
Premiering at the Cannes Film Festival this past May and available now on VOD platforms, the Jean-François Richet-directed (Mesrine) thriller has been racking up rave reviews across the board so far, and rightly so.
Gibson naturally isn't going to be for everyone these days, but for his fans or simply those who enjoy a gamy, intense, R-rated revenge thriller, this should be right up their street. Between this and Gibson's latest directorial effort Hacksaw Ridge landing later in the year, Gibson's comeback could very well be on the horizon.
