It's fair to say that if you're looking for a narrative full of surprises, Blood Father is probably not the way to go. If you've seen any number of revenge thrillers, you'll get a pretty quick idea about where this is going, and can pretty much count the plot beats by a metronome.
One can certainly argue that the movie is more about its execution than being surprising for its own sake, but if you're hoping for a movie that subverts genre formula, this really isn't it at all. It plays well within that wheelhouse, but isn't packed with shocks.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
