Expectations are high for Captain America: Civil War, the follow-up to Joe and Anthony Russo's excellent The Winter Soldier and first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's expansive Phase 3 lineup. Though it's still a few months out, the footage, stills, and even concept art from the film have been incredibly well-received, raising many people's hopes that the Russos can raise the bar even higher than their first outing in the MCU. While the big sequel belongs to Captain America, the huge supporting cast of characters old and new lining the film around him has made it feel like a new Avengers outing. With longtime staples of the MCU like Iron Man and Black Widow, more recent additions like Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man, and a number of brand-new arrivals all on deck, it's an absolutely loaded film, which will undoubtedly lend weight to the titular conflict as loyalties are questioned and dynamics fans have grown accustomed to are completely reshaped. In advance of its arrival, let's take a look at the roster to stack up which characters are worth getting most excited about and why.
