Captain America: Civil War Reviews - 12 Early Reactions You Need To Know
The best Spider-Man ever?
It might still be a couple of weeks until Captain America: Civil War opens in cinemas, but thanks to the first critics' screening we have a broad picture of how good the sequel is. According to those privileged few who have already seen it, we're in for a treat.
It's already attracting hyperbole like it's no-one's business; it's been called a better Avengers movie than the last two Avengers movies and is said to have the best action sequence in comic book movie history. The new characters seemingly deliver and supporting characters like Ant-Man and Bucky absolutely nail it.
There are also a couple of new things we know: it's great, it's 2.5 hours long (that much isn't new to everyone, of course) and there's at least one mid-credits stinger. (Looking through the reactions online, it seems almost everyone expects there to be a second added for public screenings.) Plus, excitingly, there's a lot more of a certain web-slinger than you might have expected.
In short, if you weren't already excited, now's the time to board to hype train and set off screaming towards release. And keep re-reading these early critical reactions on the way...
12. The Best Comic Book Movie Fight EVER
That's a fairly big claim, but the praise for the airport scene - which we know will include both Spider-Man's interference and all of the heroes running towards each other in perfectly Gif-able fashion - seems universal.
And thank God: the way it was billed in the trailer has already made that sequence look like a crown jewel in the hero v hero scenes, and to hear that it's one of the best genre scenes ever is thrilling.
