Despite a cast, crew, synopsis, and even a title being absent from the announcement, the director’s solid track record makes it easy to be excited for whatever he does next. After Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, and Dunkirk, Nolan has become one of the most reliable filmmakers in the business, so it’s only natural that his forthcoming effort will be subject to a lot of hype over the coming months.

The movie is over a year away so details are still relatively thin on the ground at the moment, but there are several facts we know for now, with the layers gradually being peeled back as it readies production.

Nolan is a very secretive filmmaker so it's hard to predict exactly what he'll do next, but looking at everything that's been revealed in the few months since his latest film was announced, and there are some key details that help us piece together his 2020 movie.

8. It's Called Tenet

When Christopher Nolan's 2020 movie was first announced, it didn't even have so much as a title. That speaks to the drawing power the director has, because even just 'Untitled Nolan Project' is pretty exciting.

Now, according to a report from Variety, the film does indeed have a title: Tenet.

Can we just go back to Untitled Nolan Project? Tenet isn't officially confirmed, and it sounds more like a working title than an actual one, but Variety are often on the money with these things, so let's assume for now that it is indeed the real title. Does it tell us anything else about the movie?

A tenet is a principle or belief, generally regarding either religion or philosophy. The idea of exploring someone's philosophical beliefs, or the tenets of various people in different ways and how they clash with what they're tasked with doing, does sound like the kind of thing Nolan would want to do within one of his movies, especially post-Interstellar.
