Fan-Casting 7 Big Batman Villains For Ben Affleck's Solo Movies
Dear Warner Bros, we want Batman versus Kylo Ren in a future movie. Please.
Given that Ben Affleck's portrayal of Batman was one of Batman v Superman's most positively-received elements, with a standalone movie fast-tracked into development shortly after the movie came out, we're confident that The Dark Knight will have a long, fruitful career in the DCEU.
And what does that mean? Villains.
The Batman rogues gallery is rich, extensive and iconic, full of memorable supervillains, anti-heroes and thugs that're just waiting to face off against Batfleck in all his beefed-up, brooding glory.
Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke has already been confirmed as the villain in the first solo movie, but what if he's not the only baddie on show? What about those inevitable sequels? Batman needs a baddie to pummel, and we've got some ideas in that regard.
Here are our picks for ten villains we want to see square off against the Bat, and the actors who should play them...
7. Andrew Scott As The Riddler
Anyone who's seen Andrew Scott in Sherlock knows that he can play insane, clever and engaging with apparent ease, and these three skills would make him a suitable pick to jump into the Riddler's shoes.
As Moriarty, he played a series of deadly, cunning games with Sherlock that impacted the detective at a psychological level. There's no way the Riddler can face Batman in a fight and win; he has to use mind games and trickery to succeed, and Scott, opposite Cumberbatch's Holmes, proved he can convincingly play that role with aplomb.
The Riddler is also rather weak of frame, using his slight appearance to deceive his foes and make them underestimate him. Scott ticks this box too; he hardly looks like he hits the gym on a regular basis, and his gaunt, pale complexion would bring a haunting, spooky look to the role that would mesh perfectly with the DCEU's dark, gritty choice of tone.
