Back in its heyday, Ghostbusters was an absolutely white-hot movie property, birthing its very own range of toys, video games, spin off animated series, the works. If you were growing up in the eighties or nineties you will have been a fan; if not, youll have been a social pariah. In fact, so hot was the Ghostbusters property at a certain point in time, that many were surprised when it didnt yield a third movie. It seemed at the time so ripe for trilogy status but alas, we waited and waited and a third movie never came. That was over twenty years ago. Since then, the heat has died off quite considerably. So it comes as something of a surprise that the original creative team Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Ivan Reitman are supposedly begging principal photography on a third Ghostbusters movie as early as summer 2013. Talk about last out of the gate. I suppose it isnt such a shock. After all Ackroyd has always been quite public about his desire to make a third Ghostbusters film and has apparently toyed with several ultimately discarded scripts and premises over the years between GB II and now. But one has to wonder, can Ghostbusters III possibly be any good, given how much time has passed, given how much its stars have changed since its heyday? Well, thats what Im here to discuss my friend. So without further chatter, why dont we get right into it? And remember: whatever you do, never, EVER, cross the streams!
