Hugh Jackman Lets Us Know Where He's At With The Third Wolverine Movie
He's already starting to look the part again.
Collider caught up with Wolverine himself at Sundance (where he's promoting his new film Eddie The Eagle alongside Taron Egerton), with Jackman expertly dancing around the questions - evidently a seasoned pro at dodging reporters' questions, after 16(!) years of playing the character.
To the surprise of approximately no one, the latest update on the Wolverine threeguel is that the script is pretty much done and that they're gearing up to shoot the thing fairly soon. "We have a script. A full script. To tell you, two days ago I got that the full finishedwell, its not finished, but were getting super closeas you can see by the rate of my facial hair. That might give you a good clue that perhapsyeah, its sooner rather than later."Collider understandably pushed for more details as to where and when the film will start shooting, and Jackman responded by telling them about every tiny detail of the planned production, including its ending and the ending to X-Men: Apocalypse. Just kidding. He was really evasive.
"I dont have a firm date yet. My thing - and Ive told you and Ive told everyone, its my last one, for me I want it to be perfect, so the moment I know its perfect, bang, well go."Some of you may remember that the rumours surrounding Wolv3rine (sorry) have indicated Old Man Logan being the storyline - heck, Jackman himself said the words on stage at Comic-Con last year (with no further explanation). What shape the movie will take is up for debate, but I guarantee you that even though Jackman said the words Old Man Logan, you're not going to get some sort of verbatim adaptation of the comics. You're not going to see Logan aged up to look like Clint Eastwood as he is now, nor will you see Wolverine massacre all of the X-Men thanks to being tricked by an illusion. It's just not going to happen. So whatever this movie version of Old Man Logan ends up being, don't be too surprised if it barely resembles Mark Millar's comic (not unlike Captain America: Civil War). https://youtu.be/i4tAKQmQ_iU Wolverine 3 is due out sometime in 2017.
