James McAvoy Reveals Charles Xavier Approach For X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel
"He’s lost his best friend, essentially, and he’s just been paralyzed from the waist down. Which is just a huge, huge blow to his considerable ego..."
I know that with Charles, you either have to write him out of the movie or give him an interesting story Hes lost his best friend, essentially, and hes just been paralyzed from the waist down. Which is just a huge, huge blow to his considerable ego. So hes got to deal with that. I dont care if hes a superhero and has brain powers or not, hes just had a huge part of his physical life taken away from him, by someone he cares about more than anyone else. So hes got to deal with that. Thats part of the interesting ideas that were talking about with Matthew , that Matthews very excited about which I think is fantastic, but I cant really get into them with you because they may (or may not) form the spine of the story Thats what Matthew is talking about, hes come up with a particularly interesting idea, last time I spoke with him. So hes pitching that to Fox, and theyve basically just got to write the script.Notice in the last couple of sentences McAvoy claims Vaughn is pitching to Fox which probably means, at least accurate to the last time he spoke to Vaughn, that the studio haven't yet given writer Simon Kinberg and Vaughn the green light to put pen to paper on these ideas, one of which we know for sure was to begin the movie with Magneto helping along the bullet from Lee Harvey Oswald that killed JFK because he wouldnt acknowledge the mutants work in stopping global annihilation from World War III. This would be continuing the idea that the X-Men characters have been significantly involved in the history of modern American politics. Vaughn told us over the summer;
I thought it would be fun to open with the Kennedy Assassination, and we reveal that the magic bullet was controlled by Magneto. That would explain the physics of it, and we see that hes pissed off because Kennedy took all the credit for saving the world and mutants werent even mentioned.Though it's also probably wise for me to point out that Matthew Vaughn himself isn't yet signed up for the sequel and has said next year he will be making a movie with Mark Millar. Though by the time the X-Men: First Class sequel is ready to go, we are sure he will be too.
