Jurassic World 2 Trailer - 11 Big Things We Learned

Hollywood... always finds a way. To blow stuff up.

After 2015's Jurassic World became a surprise box-office smash (it's currently the fourth-highest grossing film of all time) and performed well enough with critics, a sequel was as inevitable as the sunrise.

And just over two years later, that sequel is almost upon us. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will see returning characters Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen (Chris Pratt) returning to the dinosaur-infested Isla Nublar on a mission to save its inhabitants from an unstable volcano.

This first trailer isn't as strong as other recent efforts like Avengers: Infinity War's marvelous tease, but it does a good job setting up the film's premise, re-introducing us to the two leads, and yes, offering a lot of glorious dinosaur action.

From erupting volcanoes to T-Rex money shots to Jeff frickin' Goldblum, there's a lot to take in here, with the trailer handing us several key bits of information we didn't have before.

We now have a basic plot outline, details on character relationships and a bunch of other small tidbits about a film that - up until this point - has been a total mystery. Let's check out the biggest reveals!

11. Owen And Claire... Aren't Together?

Though they seemed like an item (or were very close to being an item) at the end of Jurassic World, it looks like Fallen Kingdom will once again feature a bickering, will-they-won't-they dynamic between Claire and Owen - or, the exact same relationship they had for the majority of the first movie.

This seems like an odd step backwards; why spend an entire movie bringing them closer together and leading them to a mutual understanding of each other, only to return to the sarcastic quips and palpable disdain that was apparent back when we first saw them together?

One of two things is happening here: one, Owen and Claire got together, enjoyed a relationship, then broke up (which fills out the big time jump Fallen Kingdom is taking); or two, they just became good friends after their traumatic experience at the dino theme park.

Owen seems quite bitter in this opening scene so presumably it's the former, but at this point, it's impossible to tell.
