Kevin Feige Says Marvel Have 20 "Completely Different" Movies Planned
They'll never stop the MCU.
Avengers 4 will be the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, but have no fears, they've got stories for years.
Vanity Fair have a big MCU cover story out this week, and one of the topics up for discussion is the future of the universe. It's already 17 films deep and turns 10-years-old in 2018, with another five films on the horizon before Phase 3 comes to a close.
Talk has already turned to what comes next, with a further exploration of the cosmic arm seeming likely and hints at comic book arcs like Secret Invasion and House of M, and a few new clues have now been dropped. Speaking to the publication, Marvel chief Kevin Feige said:
"[We're] 22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before - intentionally."
Disney CEO Bob Iger supported this, saying that "we’re looking for worlds that are completely separate - geographically or in time - from the worlds that we’ve already visited."
One of the big criticisms of most Marvel movies is the way they stick to a similar formula or template, so it's welcome to hear them talk about really branching out and doing things differently. Feige adds: "There will be two distinct periods. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting."
