Logan: Every Major Character Ranked From Worst To Best
Heroes and villains at the end of the world...
Logan is a lot of things to a lot of fans. For some it's the greatest comic book movie ever. For others, it's the perfect send off for the best ever character. For yet more, it's a harrowing, grim story of loss, hope and devastation that is as entertaining and brave as it is thoroughly unrepeatable. Nobody should want to revisit those wounds in a hurry.
What is not up for debate is the film's quality: it is a towering achievement in cinematography, performance and writing that absolutely deserves the Oscar attention that it unforgivably won't get next year. And even with limited bredth in its characters - because this is still supposed to be a post-apocalyptic journey and isolation and solitude are key parts to the claustrophobic feel - the film still feels satisfyingly populated.
Inevitably, not everyone enjoys the same kind of screen-time as the central three, but each adds something, and any failings in their characterisation mostly only tell in the wider context of the film's genius.
Forget calling it a three person road play, Logan has a surprising number of characters who are supposed to matter. It's just a shame that some of them are far more successful than others...
