The much-anticipated three-minute trailer for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel debuted last night, and the Internet has been abuzz ever since about the new things it told us. Cluing us in on more of the action beats as well as Clark's origin story, this new trailer mostly cements our anticipation for the Christopher Nolan-produced film, though also presents a few question marks that I'm personally not that sure about. Still, we don't have too long to wait to find all the answers out - the film drops in less than 2 months on June 14th. Here are 10 things we learned from the new Man of Steel trailer...
10. Hans Zimmer's Score Is Awesome
After so many mistakenly believed that the haunting Gladiator-esque theme in the last Man of Steel trailer was our first glimpse at Hans Zimmer's score for the film, we finally got to have a genuine listen to what we assume will be the main theme or one of the key leitmotifs throughout the picture. In typically epic Hans Zimmer style, it enjoys a slow-build as we're shown glimpses of Clark's upbringing, and once we see him as Superman, it lets loose with the epic drums and loud horns. Much was made of the fact that Zimmer elected not to use John Williams' iconic theme, a daring but necessary decision to distinguish this grittier take on Superman from what came before. While Zimmer's theme is going to struggle to reach that iconic stature - it almost definitely won't - at least this shows the composer isn't resting on his laurels and is instead trying something completely different. From what I've heard so far, I love it.
