MCU: 10 Characters Who Could Lead The Avengers Against Kang The Conqueror

With Tony Stark and Steve Rogers gone, someone needs to step up.

The Infinity Saga has come and gone, and so has any and all previous iterations of the Avengers. The original six are either dead, retired, or seemingly training their replacements, while other heroes have left the planet and in some cases this universe and dimension.

With the Multiverse Saga comes the opportunity for an entirely new roster of superheroes to join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and with Kang the Conqueror set to act as the big bad of Phases Four, Five, and Six, they will need all the help they can get. Both Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are gone, so any future version of the Avengers set to fight in The Kang Dynasty will be in desperate need of leadership.

Thankfully there are more than a few potential sources for such skills within the wide MCU, some of which have already been introduced to fans, some of which haven’t.

From new heroes to old heroes, old villains that could become new heroes, and new villains inside the bodies of new heroes (that one may require a little more context), there are some very strong candidates for who could bring the Avengers to assemble at the conclusion of Phase Six.

10. Loki

There are few MCU characters that have had anything similar to the journey that Loki has had. He started as a villain, doubled down as a bigger villain, moved into the territory of anti-hero in The Dark World and Ragnarok, before becoming a hero in his own right sacrificing himself in Infinity War.

Even after his meteoric rise from petulant little brother to trying to ensure the safety of the entire multiverse, Loki even being in the same room as the Avengers would be a far cry. Leading them may seem downright idiotic, but there is a potential logic to it.

As it stands right now, no one knows about the impending threat that is Kang the Conqueror. No one except Loki, who has met a Variant of his, and though he may be in another corner of the multiverse right now, he may be the only chance humanity has to prepare against him. The Avengers could look to him purely based on how much he knows about the new big bad of the MCU, which after season two of Loki, could be everything.

Admittedly, this is probably the most unlikely on this list, but if you thought Loki telling Thanos that he had a Hulk was a satisfying full circle, how about Loki leading Thor into battle?
