Predicting Box-Office Of Every Disney 2019 Movie
Avengers 4, The Lion King, AND Star Wars Episode 9 in the same year?!
2018 has been a monumental year for Disney. Not only did Avengers: Infinity War become just the fourth movie in history to break past the $2bn barrier, but they also saw unprecedented success with Black Panther - the highest-grossing first solo movie in an MCU franchise - which could even translate into Oscar wins.
The Incredibles 2, meanwhile, became the biggest animated movie in North America, on its way to a worldwide total of $1.2bn. Even the disappointments of Solo: A Star Wars Story ($392m) and A Wrinkle In Time ($132m) couldn't slow the Mouse House down, with 2018 becoming its second-biggest box-office year ever, with the total of $6.4bn behind only 2016's $7.6bn. It's also the third-largest in history, with Universal's 2015 haul of $6.89bn just beating it (all of this is unadjusted for inflation, of course).
Add in the Fox merger, the completion of which is a mere formality, and it's a mega-year for Disney - but one they can completely smash next year. Things are going to get potentially better from a moviegoers viewpoint, but what's not in question is them getting even bigger too, and 2019 could be the studio's most successful year yet.
