March typically kicks off blockbuster season ahead of the summer proper, and this year it sure didn't disappoint. Big tentpoles delivered on their promises more often than not, and even some highly controversial films were released to a surprisingly decent (or at least not-terrible) response.

There wasn't a single truly reprehensible release this past month on the level of, say, Rings or Fifty Shades Darker, so that's a good start. Sure, there were some bad films but nothing outside of "totally watchable with a six-pack of beer" territory.

Netflix also continued to stake their claim as a terrific alternative to the cinema by releasing a few compelling festival hits, and the month's art-house selection included a number of absolute must-see movies.

As for what next month holds? Get ready for The Fate of the Furious, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Arnold Schwarzenegger's new drama Aftermath, cannibal horror flick Raw and much, much more.
