Ranking March 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

17. CHiPs

Chips Michael Pena Dex Shepard
Warner Bros.

RottenTomatoes Score: 19% (3.7/10 average score)

Box Office: Even on a modest $25 million budget, the R-rated comedy grossed below expectations, opening at the #7 spot during its opening weekend and having only recouped about 2/3 of its cost to date. It's totally a home video/Netflix movie, though, so it'll probably end up profitable eventually.

Verdict: Fans of tasteful humour need not apply in this wildly uneven buddy cop romp, propelled forward by the solid chemistry between Dax Shepard (who also wrote and directed the film) and Michael Peña.

It's not without its uproarious moments, but CHiPs too often settles for the lame, easy gag, is offensive without justifying it comedically, and is basically a failed attempt to pull off a 21 Jump Street-esque reinvention of a dead franchise.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
