Razzies 2018: 7 Winners That Make No Sense

Worst of the year? Not a chance.

As is annual tradition, on the eve of the Academy Awards, the Golden Raspberry Awards (aka the Razzies) thumbs its nose at Hollywood by "celebrating" the apparent worst that the past year had to offer.

Though the idea of the Razzies is amusing enough, the voting body - which consists of anyone who pays membership fees, by the way - almost consistently votes for what's fashionable to hate on rather than what was actually the worst-of-show in any given year.

This was clearly true for this year's ceremony, which certainly foregrounded bad movies and performances, but the very worst of the year? In most instances, they weren't even close.

While it's hard to argue with The Emoji Movie winning Worst Picture, Worst Screen Combo (for "any two obnoxious emojis") and Worst Screenplay, elsewhere Razzie voters made choices both lazy and cynical, rather than actually trying to "reward" that which was truly terrible.

If you watched maybe ten movies last year, perhaps these results will suffice, but if you were at all committed to watching films both good and bad, this year's Razzie slate just wasn't up to par...
