Who ever saw THAT cameo coming?

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is finally here, and it's not overstating the case to say that most critics and audiences alike are having a great time with the movie.

In many ways a breath of fresh air for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Shang-Chi offers up a unique origin story while still presenting the stylish character-driven action fans of the franchise expect.

It's a film primed to sneak up on a lot of people, given its less-aggressive hype compared to, say, Black Widow, and to that end it delivers a bevy of surprising and totally unexpected moments.

From riotously funny gags to shocking cameos, outrageous one-liners, glorious fan service, that final battle, and everything else in-between, Shang-Chi does not leave viewers wanting for eyebrow-raising, what-the-hell-just-happened moments.

If Black Widow was a rather uneven return to the big screen for the MCU, Shang-Chi offers a far more convincing adventure sure to leave you constantly thrilled, amused, and at times straight-up shook (but mostly in a good way).

Obviously it goes without saying that MAJOR SPOILERS for Shang-Chi will follow, so if you haven't seen it yet you've most certainly been warned...

21. Shang-Chi Is A Valet

One of the film's funniest gags occurs right at the start, when after tracing Shang-Chi's (Simu Liu) origins, we cut to the present day, where he's getting suited-up in a slick, badass musical montage.

Next up we see a super-swish red car pull up and a suave figure step out, only for the camera to pull up and reveal it's... some random wealthy Asian guy, who then throws his keys to Shang-Chi, who is working as a valet and going by the westernised name "Shaun."

As a thumbing of the nose at all the prior MCU origin stories focused around wealthy, privileged, mostly white men - looking at you, Iron Man and Doctor Strange - it's an hilariously self-aware gag on which to kick the movie off.
