Not sure if you're aware, but Star Wars is getting good again.

Not the Skywalker Saga mind you, we still haven't recovered from Episode IX. But the Disney Plus series' have been going from strength to strength since The Mandalorian debuted, and with The Book of Boba Fett keeping the momentum going, here's hoping Andor and Obi-Wan do the same later on this year.

With 101 potential directions to go in, and several interesting series' already in the pipeline (from interesting and prominent creators too), it does get the mind wondering as to what other series Disney can mould from Star Wars canon.

The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett brought a sci-fi Spaghetti Western to our screens, Andor is looking to be a sneaky spy thriller, and Obi-Wan's trailer hints the show will be akin to a survival thriller; so let's hope there's a fusion of a genre twinned with Star Wars sci-fi in the near future.

For this list, we have ten exciting ideas and directions Disney could take their next batch of Star Wars shows.

10. A Podracing Championship Series

Right out of the gate, we're shooting for the moon (or is it a spaceship?) with a high-concept idea. And I know what you're thinking; a TV series based on the most pointless sequence in Episode I? You're damn right!

Let's just admit that any other day, Pod-Racing would have been thrilling to watch; it was just used in the worse context, at the worst time, with the worst stakes imaginable (Qui-Gon Jinn sure is not distressed by slavery).

But a series that focuses on an aspiring Pod Racer could make for a compelling watch. We got a sense from the race on Tatooine as well as passing comments that it is a thrilling and popular sport, and with the right charismatic lead, there could be a slick non-violent show for the whole family.

Audiences would track the career trajectory of the racer as they rise through the ranks from the lower divisions to the big leagues; making allies and enemies in the process.

The series wouldn't be exclusive to watching mindless, faceless racing though; there can be drama off the race tracks too, as corrupt officials insist on sabotaging races, maybe our lead racer has some personal stakes that could be put on the line for the series finale?

The show escalates and culminates to the biggest racing tournament in the Galaxy. The season finale race takes place on a wicked, deathly circuit where even the best pod-racers struggle.

Now THAT is pod racing!
