Star Wars Episode 9 - 8 Most Outlandish Fan Theories

Rey's parents are... REY?!

While the movies themselves have been great, poor, and sometimes divisive, Star Wars fans have remained the most passionate pop-culture consumers on the planet.

The next movie they'll be able to analyse every frame of is the upcoming Episode IX, and while we don't know much about it at this point, it goes without saying that it'll be the subject of heavy scrutiny, with a healthy peppering of fan theories to boot.

And that isn't just when the movie comes out, either - it's already started.

Ever since the new sequel trilogy was first announced, fans have been speculating about how the Skywalker saga will come to a close, and with The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi providing a solid basis to form their theories on, the past seven months has really seen the Episode IX conjecture reach sky-high levels.

And while everyone's entitled to their own opinion, some of those opinions can seem a little... odd. Episode IX already has its fair share of weird fan theories, and even though they (probably) won't ever come to fruition, they're rather amusing to read.

8. Snoke Will Possess Hux

One of the biggest talking points coming out of The Last Jedi was the fate of Supreme Leader Snoke: did he actually find a way survive his death at the hands of Kylo Ren? The internet has been trying to answer that question for months, with one of the most popular trains of thought being that the Snoke we saw in the film wasn't his true form.

And then there are theories like this, which take the whole idea to a ridiculous level.

According to Reddit user skywalkinondeezhatrz (great name), Snoke - shortly after his death - somehow reached out to General Hux and told him that his obsidian ring would be able to transfer his consciousness into another host.

In Episode IX, Hux will take this ring to a "sacred place", and perform a ritual to shift Snoke's spirit into his own pale, weak, ginger body. From here, Snux would be able to hunt down Kylo Ren and have his revenge on the conflicted dark side apprentice.

Why It's Outlandish: Could Snoke be alive? Sure. Are the filmmakers really going to take Hux - who's been portrayed as laughable and incompetent so far - and make him a badass Force user? Noooooope.

Snoke acting through Hux's body sounds like something you'd see in a Star Wars parody, not the real thing. Plus, if this was Hux's plan, why did he follow Kylo to Crait? He'd surely have gone straight to that "sacred place" to bring Snoke back immediately.
