Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Things Everybody Missed In The New Trailer

Did you spot the Flametrooper?

Despite still being over half a year away, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is already treated to a level hype most other films can't even muster on opening weekend. And just when excitement couldn't get any higher, along comes a second teaser that is inexplicably even better than the first eighty-eight seconds released back in November. Continuing that wonderful balance of nostalgia and forward thinking, only with a bit more of the movie's action, it shows there's more to Episode VII than just promise; for the first time since 1983, this looks to be a Star Wars film that delivers. Little wonder it's managed to get almost as many views as the first trailer in a matter of weeks. But it's not just boasting the audio return of Luke, the proper return of Han (and Chewie), the first look at Kylo Ren's mask, and confirmation that the legacy of Darth Vader is going to loom very large over proceedings - there's a lot more hidden in the trailer than everybody realises. Here's a rundown of the ten biggest things hidden in the second teaser for The Force Awakens that give a clue of what to expect in December.

Honourable Mention - It's In 3D

Tucked away at the end of the trailer after the title card (i.e. the point when most people have switched off) is confirmation of a little known fact - Episode VII's going to be in 3D. Of course, at this point, over five years on from Avatar, the tech is take-it-or-leave-it, but the surcharge will help the film make that bit more money (not that it'll need it). The Force Awakens isn't the first Star Wars film to go stereoscopic - The Phantom Menace got a rerelease back in 2012 - but it is breaking new ground by appearing on IMAX. Only one sequence was shot in the format, but you can bet the whole thing will still look great.
