Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Post-Credits Scenes That Wouldn’t Actually Suck

The Force is strong with these stinger suggestions...

Episode VII will be upon us before you know it. Star Wars fans have been chomping at the bit for the better part of two years, eagerly awaiting the debut of the new film, hoping it will relieve the pain of the disastrous prequel trilogy. Now that the day is nearly here, it's only inevitable gossip will start to move to the franchise's future after The Force Awakens. In fact, rumour has it that Episode VII will have a post-credits scene to just such an end. But what could it be? And more importantly, what could be included to make it not feel like a cheap waste of time? For the most part, Lucasfilm sister studio Marvel (they both now exist under the Disney banner) have perfected the use of the post-credits scene, using them as teasers to set up the next film from their stable. Lucasfilm could easily go that route and set up a future Star Wars film - but that is a bit of an issue given that the next film is not a direct sequel, but rather a standalone film, Rogue One, set in the past prior to the battle to destroy the Death Star. While that could be made to work, there are other options...

7. A Send-Off For Han Solo

While little is known about the events of The Force Awakens thus far, one of the more stunning rumours states that it will be the final hurrah for the smug smuggler portrayed by Harrison Ford. While it's known that Mark Hamill will be back for Episode VIII, Ford, who is in his seventies (and recently cheated death in a plane crash), will likely be hanging them up after this go-round. There has certainly been no confirmation of his involvement in the next film, which leads credence to the theory. Which means that one of the most iconic, popular characters from the franchise will be taking his leave (at least barring any recasting or prequel appearances, but in that case it won't be Ford). That makes the post-credits scene the perfect time for one final farewell, be it a look at where ever Solo ends up at the culmination of The Force Awakens, or in a flashback sequence of some sort. A flashback might work best, but in either case, if Han does bite the dust in this Episode, the final shots should be a tribute to the character.
