6. One Final Glimpse of Darth Vader
We know that the most fearsome of Sith Lords, Darth Vader, plays some sort of role in The Force Awakens, given the image of his charred, ruined helmet and mask. What this role is, at present, is unknown. Is it simply that someone finds his remains? Has the dark side of his being lived on as part of the force? Kylo Ren certainly seems to worship him, at any rate. The shot of a ruined Vader visage has been one of the most poignant images related to The Force Awakens thus far, despite the fact that he was a villain throughout most of the series (disregarding the prequels and his final attempt at redemption when he does away with The Emperor, anyway). That's a bit surprising, given the return of Han and Chewie, but it does speak to the lasting impression Vader has made on pop culture. So perhaps a post credits scene would be a good time to revisit Vader one last time. For Disney, the character is one of the most valuable in the franchise. What could work is a scene that links the final film of the original series, Return of the Jedi, to The Force Awakens, using Vader as a bridge. Something that ties the Sith to the Knights of Ren.
