Thor: Ragnarok - Every Character Ranked Worst To Best
Asgardians old and new.
Despite Thor: Ragnarok being the third step in a trilogy, it's a lot more than that thanks to Taika Waititi's agenda to make a stand-alone movie that takes the central characters in new directions. It's a film about differences - not just from what has come before in this sub-series, but also from the rest of the MCU.
For a start, it's a comedy (albeit with lots of drama thrown in), with a tone wildly at odds with Thor: The Dark World, and it almost feels like it's set in a completely different genre. Along with those tonal differences comes a new cast of characters too - Tess Thompson's Valkyrie, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk (well, new to THIS series, anyway), Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster, Cate Blanchett's Hela and Waititi's own Korg, among a host of others. And while some of the old guard are still involved, Ragnarok feels like a movie of transition, designed to put some of their stories to an end.
With the film now out in Europe (and heading to US screens at the start of November), audiences will start falling in love with some of those new characters as much as the best the MCU has offered so far, as well as finding new ways to love the old ones. Because there's a lot of opportunity in there for both of those.
So how do they all rank? Some light spoilers will follow for Thor: Ragnarok.
