Just when you thought no other movie could eclipse your anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises this summer and then Ridley Scott comes along and returns to the sci-fi film genre he turned on its head in the late 70's and blows your mind... After much teasing from 20th Century Fox, the full length trailer for Prometheus is now online and I think I've run out of superlatives for just how breathtakingly awesome this movie looks. As Warner Bros have gone a little quiet on us as Chris Nolan puts the finishing touches to his final Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises (which screened on Friday in a complete version for execs), Fox and Ridley Scott have given us nothing but weekly snippets of delights and you could now certainly make a strong case that Prometheus may have over-taken Nolan's in our most anticipated summer blockbuster stakes. Ridley Scott just unveiled this full length trailer at WonderCon yesterday and you really do need to stop what you are doing and watch it right now; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHcHYisZFLU&feature=player_embedded You know what really strikes me about the trailer? It is familiar and clearly is a relation to Alien (watch out for a dead giveaway of the space jockeys throughout) but it looks to be its entirely own standalone story and that's really intriguing and freeing for the story. Prometheus centers on a team of space explorers searching for the origins of mankind and are played by Noomi Rapace (scientist Elizabeth Shaw), Charlize Theron (Meredith Vickers), Michael Fassbender (the android David), Idris Elba (Janek), Logan Marshall-Green (Charlie Holloway) with supporting roles for Patrick Wilson, Rafe Spall, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong and more in an Alien esque international all star cast. As well as the new trailer, Fox yesterday released a viral commercial focusing on Michael Fassbender's android David which is a nice background tie-in reminiscent of the one given to Guy Pearce's character. You can watch that below; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEO3lmVy-tU&feature=player_embedded Prometheus opens June 1st in the UK but not until June 8th in the US.
