Appearing as a guest on The Nerd Queens YouTube channel, Snyder revealed that he's hoping one day Warner Bros. would allow him to do a one-off Batman movie, similar to Todd Phillips' take on Joker's origin.

"I'm so obsessed with that comic. I've always thought that maybe one day down the road as a one-off, just as a crusty old Batman, we'd just do it. it's a dream I have".

Considering that Ben Affleck's version of the Dark Knight, both from his look and his actions, were heavily inspired by Frank Miller's masterpiece, we can only imagine that Snyder's dream-casting would be to reutilise the star.

Ben Affleck will of course play the Caped Crusader once again in the Snyder Cut of Justice League and then one last time in Andy Muschietti's The Flash, scheduled for release in 2022. Rumor previously ran rampant about HBO Max possibly bringing Affleck back on board for more projects revolving Batman and a Dark Knight Returns movie would just be the cherry on top.
