We can all relate to the sheer agony of counting down the days for a game to be launched, only to find out that it barely functions and is riddled with glitches.

It seems now more than ever, developers are quick to rush their titles out of the door, having adopted a "we'll fix it later" attitude. A series of patches commonly follows every launch of any big budget game, correcting fundamental flaws that should have been fixed before launch. As a 'trend' adopted across the industry, many established landmark franchises we'd never think to fall so low - such as Halo, Assassin's Creed and Fallout - are now infamous for buggy launches and the resulting stilted gameplay.

There does exist a ray of hope - in the UK at least - as customers are able to return a game within 30 days under the refined Customer Rights Act, should they consider it to be in a €˜faulty state€™. After all, it's only fair that gamers are entitled to a refund, as we're the ones losing out after waiting patiently and parting with our hard-earned cash.

10. Battlefield 4

EA DICE

Riding high on what appears to have become a trend of broken launches, Battlefield 4's release state was fittingly described as 'unacceptable' by EA CEO Andrew Wilson.

Many fans who excitedly grabbed the latest release after midnight launch, popped in their copy to find the horror of being unable to get into a game. Other issues experienced were frequent crashes, graphical glitches and logging on to find your save data had been completely erased.

That being said, EA has fought hard over the last few years and its main teething problems now remain a distant memory. Matchmaking issues and connectivity woes now rarely interrupt gameplay, and Battlefield itself has deservedly risen up through the ranks to become one of the finest FPS€™ on recent consoles. Even though its successor Hardline fell early last year, Battlefield 4 has still received continuous updates, adding all new maps and ironing out any remaining issues.
