And when a studio knows they've got a dud on their hands, it certainly makes business sense for them to play things coy for as long as possible.
Though 2020 is sure to be an historically stacked year for gaming - Q1 alone is a bloodbath for everyone's wallets - it also goes without saying that some of the year's most anticipated and long-awaited games just aren't going to live up to the hype.
Every year there are titles which are either rushed through development or just fail to come together as the developer expected, the result being underwhelming reviews and a hugely disappointed fanbase.
While there's every possibility for these 10 games to surprise each and every one of us, it's also worth keeping your expectations sensible until the reviews start coming out - or better still, until you're able to play the game yourself.
