10 Upcoming 2020 Video Games We're Incredibly Worried About
10. Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite is the first mainline entry into the Halo franchise in five years, and despite being announced almost 18 months ago, we still don't know that much about precisely what the final game is going to be.
While there's no need to worry about the series' reliably slick gunplay, reports suggest Infinite is going to adopt the now-popular Games-as-a-Service delivery model - it is called Infinite, after all.
Given the tendency for "live service" games to release barebones, be filled with laborious progression mechanics which encourage addiction and, inevitably, spending on microtransactions, there are many reasons to be worried about this approach.
But more curiously, Infinite's creative director left 343 Industries back in August, and just recently, the lead producer on the campaign also left the company.
Though these aren't inherently bad signs, they could suggest a game that's struggling to form into a coherent whole, with the philosophies of classic Halo story and gameplay clashing with the demands of the GaaS model.
Mercifully Microsoft is at least planning a beta ahead of release, and Halo Infinite will be releasing day-and-date on Xbox Game Pass, so even if it does suck, at least you can try it out for just a few bucks.
