10 Upcoming Video Games That Are Already Doomed
There's no hope for these games.
The world of video game development is an extraordinarily tough one, where companies can spend years and years working on a game only for it to be critically reviled and flop commercially, perhaps even resulting in losses in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
And so it's little surprise that most AAA games play things relatively safe, following well-proven trends and borrowing liberally from hit titles that came before.
But sometimes it's just clear as day that a game is doomed to fail long before it's even hit the market, and that's absolutely the case with this lot.
These 10 video games all seem primed to flop one way or another, given what we know about them so far, the pedigree (or not) of the team behind them, and everything they've shown off so far.
Sure, there's every possibility that one or two of these imperiled games defy expectations and prove themselves a huge hit, but given how long each game has been in development, the trends they're desperately chasing, and the concerning behind-the-scenes stories, you should probably keep your hype levels in check...
10. Fairgame$
Fairgame$ is part of Sony's ongoing effort to aggressively break into the live service multiplayer space - a AAA competitive heist game in which players team up to steal from the ultra-wealthy.
It's been the better part of two years since the game's CGI reveal trailer was dropped, and we've still not seen a sliver of actual gameplay, which is honestly the least-concerning thing about Fairgame$.
Even if you can forgive Fairgame$' immediately offputting title and generic aesthetic, Sony's recent live service bust Concord reaffirms the difficulty of making waves in such a crowded market - a market where even a heist game as recognisable as Payday 3 ended up flopping.
While a barnstorming gameplay reveal could certainly shift general perception of the game, at present there's little but overpowering skepticism of its ability to be anything more than another live service flop to join the growing pile.
