In the world of gaming we're seldom faced with the reality of mortality - the average body count for even a platformer sits in the hundreds (what, did you think that Goomba being squashed into fog was good for its health?), and yet, the industry is awash in hard-working creatives and passionate fans alike.

Together they've helped gaming reach exponentially ginormous audiences over time, and though we tend not to pay too much attention to the amount of people invested in a given project, it doesn't mean they're not there.

On the contrary, some games went above and beyond to show respect to their fans, both living and deceased, as a monument of thanks. They're a rarity and something to be cherished so let’s stop killing each other for just 10 minutes and marvel at these loving tributes.
