10 Video Games That Nearly Killed You

Most pastimes are supposed to be enjoyable. Whilst no one wants their games to be a docile string of cutscenes that give a false sense of achievement, neither do they want an active nightmare designed to torture every waking breath. All gamers have been there. Whether it be a mid-game difficulty spike, a certain boss or even from the very beginning, there are simply some titles purely designed to end you. They were programmed in hell, often so difficult that if you listen really closely you can hear the team behind it maniacally laughing in the background. These games have broken windows with a frustratingly hurled controller, ended marriages, resulted in psychiatric evaluations and created the greatest strings of swear words outside of an afternoon at a public Everyone Loves Raymond marathon. There are no logical arguments to justify why they are so hard. A sane person would calmly put down the controller and walk away, but the challenge is often so addictive and your resolve so concrete, you simply cant. Instead, these are the games you will see on your deathbed, that tone you heard so many times as your character met the same fate over and over - and just before you broke a tooth biting into the controller - being the final thing you ever hear.
