Is there anything quite like the launch of a new video game console? That feeling of unboxing the very future of gaming and watching as its technological bounty fills your TV is about as good as it gets if you're a gamer. It's such a great feeling that the only thing that could possibly derail it is realizing that your new system doesn't have any new games worth playing. It's why most companies that release a new console invest as much time and money in securing a series of launch titles that will show off their new machine as they do in building the console itself. From Super Mario Bros. to Halo, some of the very best games of all-time debuted hand-in-hand with the consoles they were on. But even though a strong launch lineup is as essential to the success of a console as the console itself, gaming history is filled with instances of major system releases that left early adopters out in the cold. A lack of games available for a console on day one doesn't necessarily mean that the system is doomed to fail, but every time it happens it does feel like a slap in the face to the most loyal group of fans that the console will ever know. In the case of these lineups, most of those fans quickly found the most entertaining thing to play with on their new systems was the power button.
