10 Worst Video Game Endings Of All Time

10. Shenmue 2

It goes without saying that Shenmue 2 continued to break new ground in just the way that the original game did, with an endlessly immersive world that also introduced us to the now-famed QTE sequence. The second game continues the story of Ryo Hazuki, as he quests to avenge his father, except, Shenmue 2 was designed as being a small part in a much larger story, and so it was not as such intended that this would be the final game, assuming the long-rumoured Shenmue 3 never goes into development. Ryo never gets to confront the killer, Lan Di, in this game, and instead it ends with Ryo meeting Ling, as they discover a cryptic note and a device that might, might help them on their quest. But we'll never know, because 11 years later, the possibility of Shenmue 3 still remains a remote one at best, and so we have a whimper, a popcorn fart of an ending that just stands to tease those who love these games so much. At the time, it would have been a frustrating if necessary cliffhanger, whereas now, it simply becomes more and more excruciating every time we watch it. I can't look.
