12 Gaming Predictions For 2020 (Now E3 Isn't Happening)

Expect delays and a lot of "digital events."

Amid increasing concerns over the global spread of the COVID-19 virus, the ESA has made the rather unsurprising - if undeniably disappointing - decision to cancel this year's E3 conference.

The expo, scheduled to take place from June 9 to June 11, is the latest in a spate of high-profile events to be cancelled as the world attempts to stem the spread of the virus, and it's reasonable to expect many more busy, public-serving events to be cancelled or postponed in the weeks and months to come.

E3 is of course often referred to as the "Super Bowl of Gaming," what with its week-long unfurling of megaton reveals, release date announcements, and even the occasional shadow-drop of a new game.

E3's absence will leave a gaping hole in the gaming calendar and have a massive knock-on effect with the games both announced and released this year.

However, several companies such as Microsoft and Ubisoft have implied they're already hard at work prepping some sort of digital alternative to their traditional E3 conferences, and the ESA is said to be co-ordinating with them.

And so, in light of our typical E3 predictions article, here are some gaming predictions for the rest of 2020, factoring in the heartbreaking decision not to go ahead with E3 this year...
