Thankfully, the George Lucas-born series is so embedded in the cultural conscious, it's increasingly hard to come across entertainment properties that aren't paying tribute to the galaxy far, far away in some way or another.

That said, many references, easter eggs and nods are far more subtle than the others, and that's where this article comes in. Let me know your own favourites in the comments below, and make sure you check these out first.

12. "...And He Was A Good Friend" - Stardew Valley

Eric Barone

Designed by one-man coding powerhouse, Eric Barone, Stardew Valley is Harvest Moon meets Animal Crossing, peppered with Baldur's Gate-esque dungeon-crawling and a few bucketloads of charm. The result is one of our Best Video Games of 2016, and it's thanks to little nods like this.

Taking place during the mid-year Valley Fair and a riff on Obi-Wan's initial comments as he remembers Anakin Skywalker, the quote was that Anakin "was the best star pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior [...] And he was a good friend."

At the fair, just wander up to M. Rasmodius - who's already regarded as the resident 'creepy guy' that lives away from society - and he'll say the line. The fact Rasmodius is known otherwise as the 'Wizard' only makes this comparison more satisfying.
