16 Best PlayStation Games Of The Decade (So Far)

Across all their major consoles, what are Sony's greatest achievements?

It's pretty staggering to think how far Sony have come in the last five years, especially if you cast your mind across all of 2010 through 2013 and remember there were barely any first-party titles worth shaking anything at, never mind a recommendation-stick. The PS3 was that generation's Xbox One - a hefty piece of kit with an off-putting marketing push behind it (remember the groan at E3 when they announced the $599 price?), but something that thanks to the PS2's domination of the previous generation meant people had enough goodwill in their hearts to eventually make it a marketable investment. Sure the system ran like hell looking back and the forever-loading XMB was about as useful as a cheese parachute, but a certain selection of games really shone once developers got used to the tech, making for titles that across the board appeared on their respective end-of-year 'Best Of' lists. It's not just the PS3 that's going to be included in this decade-based collection though, both the original PSP and reworked Vita retain some brilliant titles that play to the strengths of handheld systems, and when you factor in the PS4, although it's going to be 2015's release of Uncharted 4 that hopefully gives the console its first killer app (because it certainly isn't The Order: 1886) there's a plethora of fantastic games worth picking up across all of Sony's machines.
