2015 will forever be remembered as the year the games industry promptly righted the ship after the disastrous time that was 2014. Long-awaited near-mythical titles like Fallout 4 finally landed in our laps, the 28-year strong Metal Gear Solid franchise finished with one hell of a bang, and the only truly disappointing thing that stood out was seeing a handful of high-profile developers opting to put microtransactions where they don't belong. Forget games as a whole though, it's the individual moments and sequences that you'll be screaming about from the rafters for years to come. You can hopefully recommend a good 20 phenomenal titles from the last 12 months that people simply must check out, but there are just as many - if not more - specific scenes and/or levels that make them even better. Thanks to 2015 for a ton of crowd-pleasing moments that made you proud to be a gamer, and here's to many more in 2016.

18. "I Can Do It Too" (The Battle Of Kaer Morhen) - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

When it'd done right, a large-scale RPG can have all its separate narrative roads converge in the most satisfying way possible, and considering the calibre of Witcher 3's narrative, the Helms Deep-style Battle of Kaer Morhen was a highlight of its 300+ hour adventure. Seeing your troupe of main characters joined by whichever other allegiances you'd forged up to that point, you're simply tasked with withstanding an assault from the fearsome Wild Hunt; the spectral band of riders determined to capture young Ciri for reasons unknown at the time. The entire quest has a perfect mix of gameplay and cutscene that effortlessly switches between the two, showing every character doing their part. Ciri's magic alternates between being used for good and taking her over completely, but it's when the Hunt do finally break through and fellow Witcher Eskel steps up to bat, that the following showdown occurs:Such hearty clashings of steel are always reserved for side characters attempting to save the day in dire circumstances, and Eskel's battle is a brilliantly choreographed one for the ages, not to mention the perfect setup for Ciri to save the day.
