20 Best PlayStation Exclusives Of The Decade
As far as blockbuster decades go, Sony have smashed this one.
Sony have had an absolutely cracking decade, spanning two home consoles (and one handheld). The PS3 gave way to the PS4 in late 2013, which has gone on to become the second highest selling console of all time. The PS Vita came... and went. But it did have some gems in there, which we'll look at.
Over the last ten years, we've seen franchises and sequels go from strength to strength.
We've had reboots and remasters, as well as full game remakes of some beloved titles. Even god-slayer Kratos took on an entirely new character arc., whereas David Cage and Hideo Kojima both turned in brand new worlds of socio-political posturing, "interactive movie" set-pieces. Spider-Man broke his terrible game streak, whilst Naughty Dog offered up a sequel and a new mythos to get lost in. We've had a beautiful full remake of a classic, and many old favourites got their most popular originals spruced up.
It's been ten good years for Sony and their array of consoles, as these exclusive titles prove.
20. Persona 5
Japanese role-playing games (RPG's), or their derivatives, are ten a penny now. The Final Fantasy series may hold the crown for overall standard, but that doesn't stop others from trying.
The Persona series, which originally started as a spin-off to the Shin Megami Tensei series, have gone on to surpass its origins in a breakout way. Whilst actually the sixth in the main numbered titles, Persona 5 is a great game for returning fans and newcomers alike.
It would take far too long to recap the story for you here, as well as spoil it, but suffice it to say it's a complete trip. High school shenanigans, supernatural universes, magical personas and everything bar the proverbial kitchen sink take place in the modern Tokyo-based Shujin academy and beyond.
A modern take on the classic turn-based battle systems RPG's are renowned for, the eclectic cast and anime-esque visuals are enough to turn heads, before you've even begun to scratch the surface.
If you need something to tide you over until the Final Fantasy VII Remake drops, this is your game.
